Livestream Service Mr. Yung Huang, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Chapel Hill, N.C., with his son, Mark, by his side. Mr. Huang was born on June 5, 1933, in Wuhan, China, to Mrs. Chun-Yuan Huang and Mr. Bao-Shih Huang, Republic of China's Inspector General who had played an instrumental role during China's turbulent transition to a Republic. Having relocated with his family to Taiwan after the Chinese Civil War, Mr. Huang graduated from Taiwan National University, completed his military service, and then immigrated to the United States. In 1965, Mr. Huang married Mrs. Joan Re-Lan Huang, née Li, his college sweetheart, in New York City. After completing his masters degree in statistics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the couple, with their young family, then settled in Albany, N.Y. Mr. Huang worked as an analyst with the New York State Department of Health until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Huang is remembered for his devotion and generosity to his extended family. He was well-loved by his friends and family and his boisterous, gregarious nature is missed. Mr. Huang is survived by his two sons, Mark Huang and wife, Lutsiya, of Chapel Hill, and Dr. Samuel Huang and wife, Dr. Anh Tran, of Chapel Hill; his nephew, who he also raised, Richard Wang and wife, Tina, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Samuel and Sasha Huang, Jordan and Dylan Huang, and Emily and Ryan Wang. A celebratory service of Mr. Huang’s life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June. 8, 2024, at the Hall-Wynne Funeral in Durham. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
