Winston Britteneergott, age 77, died of complications of Parkinson's disease on October 1, 2010 at Spring Arbor of Durham in NC. He suffered from PD for many years and fought a valiant battle. Winston Win was born ineewark, NJ on neember 25, 1932. He graduated from Penn State Uneersity in 1955 and was drafted into the Army the same year. He was honorably discharged in 1957. Ineecember 1957, he married Barbara Ellen Cobb and together they had four children. Win had a career in sales and sales maneement, which led him to travel throughout the Northeast. After retiring in 1995, he picked up his hobby of raising and collecting butterflies. He helped develop a unique process of encasing the butterflies in plastic so that they could be hand held. Win was the director/curator of insects for the Delaware County Institute of Science for several years. The museum still has some of his butterfly collection on display. Win moved to Spring Arbor of Durham in 2005 to be closer to his daughter, Ellen. He was very involved in all the social activities there. The family gives a huge thank you to the staff of Spring Arbor and to Heartland Hospice. Win was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Cobb Mergott in 1987. He is survived by his daughters, Ellen Hoel Ed of Chapel Hill, NC, Pam McFee Wade of Champlin, MN; sons, Britt Mergott of Royerford, PA, James Mergott Amy of Swarthmore, PA; grandchildren, Jane aneerik Hoel; Lauren, Barbara and Mary McFee; Jacob, Benjamin and Maxwell Mergott. Also surviving are Win's sister, Mary Elizabeth Mimi Colby of Naples, FL and mother-in-law, Jane Cobb Fehr of Willow Street, PA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Win's memory to the Delaware County Institute of Science, 11 Veterans Square, Media, PA, 19063. A memorial gathering will be held at The Church of Epiphany's Woodland Memorial Garden in Clarks Summit, PA on October 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. The Mergott family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham.
