Bahama - William Stamey Peeler, Sr., 95, died peacefully at home on November 3, 2020. He was born July 13, 1925 to the late Mattie Stamey & Summie Alfred Peeler of Belwood, NC.
Bill proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Paul Hamilton (DD 590) during WWII and is a recipient of a Purple Heart. After the Navy he attended High Point College where he met the love of his life.
He owned and operated Raleigh Wholesale Florist for 25 years and was a Past President of the North Carolina Florist Association. He was a 50 year member of Knap of Reeds Masonic Lodge No. 158 and actively served 25 years in Eastern Star of NC. At the time of his death he was a member of Bahama Chapter No. 203 and MESH Chapter No. 379.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Southerland Peeler.
Bill is survived by his son, W. Stamey Peeler, Jr (Cindi) and two daughters, Ann Peeler Jones (Blair) and Ellen Peeler Brooks (Joey), six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, The staff at Upchurch Drugs, Dean, Elaine and Kelly for their wonderful care during his brief time at home.
A private service will be held with burial in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
