William "Mac" Woody

William ???Mac??? Woody, 87, of Durham died Monday, April 10, 2017 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center. A native of Swain County, NC he was the son of the late Ralph Ferrell Woody and Bertha Raxter Woody. Graduate of Uneersity of North Carolina where he received his undergraduate degree and an advance degree in Education Administration. He was a school principal for the Durham City schools for 30 years where he retired. He served at Carr Junior High, Edgemoneelementary and Lakewood Schools during his tenee with the school system. He was also a graduate of Swain County High School in Bryson City NC and he served in the Uneed States Army and was honorably discharged. Mac was a member of First Baptist Church for 57 years and very active in the Men???s Bible Study in Chapel Hill. Mac is survived by his daughter, Beth Murphy and husband, Lee of Chapel Hill; sons, Tim Woody and wife, Dawn of Apex; Mark Woody and wife, Janee of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Davis Murphy, Ben Murphy and wife, Anna, Lilly Murphy, Zachary Woody and wife, Breanna, Brooklyn and Bryson Woody, Caleb, Hannah and Macy Woody. He was preceded ineeath by his wife, Eulene Davis Woody. Friends may visit Monday, April 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Durham. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Aneew Davis and Rev. Andy Winn officiating. Burial will follow at Markham Memorial Gardens.
