William Harold Styers, age 90, died peacefully Monday, June 21, 2010, at Durham Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born oneecember 6, 1919 in Kings Mountain, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Vanburen Styers and Ida Falls Styers. Harold grew up in Greensboro where he met his wife of nearly 70 years. He served in World War II as an airplane mechanic, and after the war they moved to Durham, NC where he became Vice President of Home Security Life Insurance. Upon his retirement his family moved to a farm in Chatham County where they raised Arabian horses. Harold, along with his wife and daughter, Lynn, had a passion for all forms of art specifically oil and watercolor painting. Harold was a man of unmatched imagination, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Rieves Styers, grandson, Jason Miles and wife, Kristina of Pittsboro; son-in-law, Jim Miles of Durham; sister, Frances Perkins of Greensboro; brothers, Eddie Styers of Greensboro; Frank Styers of Morehead City. He was preceded ineeath by two daughters, Lynn Styers and Susan Miles, a brother, Thomas Styers, and two sisters, Ethel Shelley and Isabel Wright. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, June 25, 2010 from Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Bullard officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in Woodland Cemetery, Madison, NC Friends may visit Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham.
