William Fuller Mansfield, Jr. Bill, 85, died Saturday morning at Pettigrew Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Bill was born in Durham on March 11, 1920 and was the son of the late W. Fuller Mansfield, Sr. and Margaret Steele Mansfield. He married Helen Glenn Foust, the love of his life, on June 7, 1941. They were married for 62 years before her death in 2003. Bill was a graduate of Bragtown High School in 1938 and served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII. In 1946, Bill returned home and was employed with the Smith Photography Studio in Raleigh. He retired in 1995 after his eyesight failed him. He enjoyed laying out photo composites and made many for various clubs and organizations. His favorite composite hangs in Carr Uneed Methodist Church . A gift from Helen and himself, it displays the ministers of Carr Church for the last 100 years. He was a member of Carr Uneed Methodist Church and the Dunneellowship Class. Bill and Heleneere members of the Gold Leaf Good Sam Camping Club for many years. Bill was a kind, humble and friendly man with a genee spirit. His presences will be missed. Surviving is one sister, Alice M. Rankin of Durham; two brothers, W. Lee Mansfield of Durham and J. Larry Mansfield of Jacksonville, Fl.; thirteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Cheryl Lawrence will preside. Visitation will be held from 1PM to 2PM Monday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carr Uneed Methodist Church, 107 N. Driver Street, Durham, NC 27703.
