William Clayton Strickland

Oxford

 William “Clayton” Strickland, age 82, died on May 31, 2022.   He was born on April 2, 1940, to his late parents, William Ennis Strickland and Varistine Bowden Strickland in Wake County and then later moved to Butner.

 He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Moss Strickland; his sister, Janet Miller (David) and family; his daughter, Georgette S. Burnette (Steve) and family; his granddaughter, Skyler and husband, Daniel. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Barry, Darlene and Terry Humphries; six step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.

 Clayton worked at Murdoch Center for 40 years and was also involved with Butner EMS and South Granville EMS.  He was a member of the Oxford Lions Club and First Baptist Church Creedmoor.

 A funeral service for Clayton will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Chapel and will be officiated by Steve Burnette.  Visitation for family and friends will be held on 2:00 pm -3:00 pm at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, Oxford, NC. Burial to follow the service at Carolina Memorial Gardens, Creedmoor, NC.

 Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made in his honor to the Oxford Lions Club.
