William Buck Briggs

OXFORD: William B. "Buck" Briggs, 66 of 5039 Culbreth Rd., died Tuesday July 6, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Granville Co. and was the son of the late Kennerson U. and Sallie Burwell Briggs. Mr. Briggs was a retired leaf supervisor for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Friday July 9, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Keith Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Sherman Briggs, daughter Robin B. Blevins and husband Gary of Oxford; his brother Ed Briggs of Oxford; a sister Linda B. Hilton and husband James, of Oxford; his grandchildren Ellen Blevins and Billy Blevins. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:30 until 4:00 PM prior to the services in the fellowship hall of the church.
