William B. Gunter, Jr.

(DURHAM, NC) – William B. Gunter Jr, age 65, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023. William was born on December 31, 1957 to the late Louise and William Gunter Sr.

A high school graduate of Durham High School 77' and a graduate of Western Carolina University. William worked in the textile industry for many years from his beginnings through family business and then 25 years with Cotton Inc. as Senior Fiber Processing Specialist in North Carolina and Associate Director in Singapore. Through his work and travels he shared his passion for textiles and loved the mechanics of how something worked. He had a wonderful opportunity through work to travel and embrace many cultures and loved exploring different cuisines. He shared his big personality with many through his life and through his favorite way - over food, cooking and storytelling. Always a big sports fan and athlete in his youth. He had a deep love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his family, and he will be remembered as a loving father, husband and dear friend to many.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Z. Gunter; step-children JJ Zavala and Alex Zavala; his daughter Katherine A. Gunter (thru first marriage with Jeanne Gunter); step-children of Denise J. Gunter - Brent Walker, Ashley Crotts, Josh Walker and Kyle Walker and grandchildren; preceded in death by Denise "DeeDee" Jackson Gunter (wife, second marriage).

A Memorial Gathering/Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 10:00am-12:00pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral.
