Wesley Scott Brewer, 78, of Durham passed away neember 24, 2008 surrounded by his family. He was borneeptember 4, 1930 in Greenwich, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas H. Brewer and Hester Ryder Brewer. After graduation from high school Mr. Brewer voluneered for the Air Force, and served as a staff sergeant with the 502nd Tactical Control Group during the Korean War in many different capacities. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Brewer was graduated from the Uneersity of North Carolina in 1958. Following his retirement as a library book and textbook salesman, he became very active in Habitat for Humanity and voluneering service in many activities for his church. His commitment to Habitat is reflected in that the "Geezer's Crew", of which he was an integral part, is planning to build a Habitat House inees' honor. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Blanee Bussell Brewer; sons David M. Brewer of Durham and Judge Scott T. Brewer and wife Karen of Rockingham, NC. He was a devoted grandfather to Leanne M. Brewer and Lauren E. Brewer of Rockingham. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Wilsie B. Rohrer of Raleigh. Mr. Brewer is also survived by special family members Sissel and Richard Jakobczyk, and their childreneessica Jakobczyk and Jenneer J. Morton, all of Durham. The family will receive friends Friday, neember 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, neember 29 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1200 W. Cornwallis Rd., Durham, NC. The Rev. Dr. Thomas Colley will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: Habitat for Humanity of Durham, 215 Church St., Durham, NC 27701; Duke Hospice, 1321 Medical Park Dr. Ste. 101, Durham, NC or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
