Wallace Eugene Mcelwee, Sr.

LEWISVILLE – Wallace Eugene McElwee, Sr., age 84, died peacefully Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Duke University Hospital. Wallace was born June 25, 1938, to the late Arthur Eugene McElwee and Eunice Hyde McElwee.

Wallace was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC. He was an entrepreneur, operating The Gold Man Jewelry Stores, located in Durham and Raleigh. Wallace participated in and won many pool tournaments in the 70’s. He enjoyed auctions, fishing, golfing, but most of all, he loved his family. 

Wallace is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise Gray McElwee, his daughter, Lynn McElwee Vaughan, (Randy),  his son, Wallace Eugene McElwee, Jr.  (Christina Poole), his grandchildren, Jessica McElwee (Jeffery), Sidney McElwee Shelts (Sean), Jeremy Wright (Yeymi), and Ashlee Muhlberger (Jason). Wallace is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in Maplewood Cemetery with Pastor Charlie McNeill officiating.
