Moorman-Durham Dateline Virginia Hawkins Moorman, age 88, died Thursday, October 17, at Croasdaile Pavilion in Durham. She was born in Cloverport, KY to the late Charles Irle Hawkins and Alma Polk Hawkins. Following her graduation from high school, she attended business school, then worked for the Kentucky Department of Health in Louisville until marrying her husband in 1951. She then moved to Rapid City, SD, where she worked as a legal secretary while her husband was in the Air Force during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the military, she became a devoted homemaker to her husband and son. Virginia is survived by her son, Allan R. Moorman and wife, Patricia, of Durham, NC; her two grand-daughters, Colleen Moorman of Washington, DC; Caitlin Moorman Spaneer and husband, Jacob, of Winston-Salem, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded ineeath by her husband of 57 years, Henry D. Moorman; her grandson, Nathaniel Aaron Moorman; and her sisters, Mary Catherine Phillips and Bettye Jo Berry . Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 2, with the Reverend Tom Hehenberger presiding.
