Virginia Eloisa Fontecilla

Virginia Eloisa Fontecilla, 101, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Brianeenter. She was one week shy of her 102nd birthday at the time of her death. Mrs. Fontecilla remained sharp aneenjoyed visiting with family until the last few days of her long aneeventful life. She was born in Jovellanos, Cuba and moved to the Uneed States with her husband, Jose Maria in 1963. Mrs. Fontecilla lived in Live Oak, FL for more than 25 years before moving to Durham to be near her extended family. She was an avid piano player, music teacher and accomplished seamstress. Her great humor and zest for life were admired by all who knew her. Mrs. Fontecilla is survived by her daughter, Priscilla E. Sotolongo and son-in-law, Hugo Sotolongo; granddaughter, Priscilla M. Sotolongo; grandsons, Hugo J. Sotolongo and wife, Cheree; Robert Sotolongo and wife, Joy; Carlos Sotolongo and wife, Ann; David Sotolongo and wife, Wendy; great granddaughters, Emilia, Marisa, Annamaria and Silvia Sotolongo; and great grandsons Alex, Nick and Stephen Sotolongo. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Jose M. Fontecilla. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:00 AM Saturday, October 7, from Holy Infant Catholic Church with Father John McGee, OSFS, presiding. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St., Durham. The rosary will be recited at 7:00PM.
