OXFORD: Troy Eugene Sanders age 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was born on April 17, 1936 in Hartwell, GA to the late Troy P. Sanders and Kathryn Shultz Sanders. His family moved to High Point when Troy was young. In Jamestown, NC, he graduated of Jamestown High School in the class of 1955. Troy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attended High Point College, worked in the Sanders Upholstery Company in High Point, NC and was retired from the N.C. Hwy. Patrol stationed in Oxford. He was a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church, a member of Oxford Masonic Lodge #122, York Rite Bodies, Sudan Temple, New Bern, NC, and Granville County Shrine Club. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 12, 2014 from Oxford Presbyterian Church by Rev. Alan Koeneke. Burial will follow on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Floral Garden Memorial Park, High Point, NC with military honors. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Betsy Wall Sanders; his sister, Virginia S. Thornton (John) of High Point, nieces and nephews and his Godchild Jordan Dixon of Indianapolis, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Oxford Presbyterian Church, 121 Gilliam Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or the Shriner's Children Hospital, 2102 S. Glenburnie Road, New Bern, NC.27562 Visitation will be conducted on Sunday, 1:00 until 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall of the Church prior to the service. The body will be in state from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. The Sanders family is being assisted by Gentry-Newell - Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford, NC.
