Tammy Lynn Champion, age 51, died on May 20, 2022, at Duke University Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late William Arthur Grissom and Edith Champion Grissom. Tammy was born in Durham County on November 20, 1970.
Tammy was a true caregiver. She worked as a caretaker at John Umstead Hospital. She became a private caretaker for people in their own homes. She put everyone else first and never herself. She believed in family and loved them deeply.
Tammy is survived by her son, Brad Evans (Whitney) and her beloved granddaughter, Gracen “Gracie” Evans; her longtime fiancée, Donald Evans; her brother, Victor “Buck” Champion (Lisa) of Stem, NC; her sisters, Connie Champion of the home and Lynette Grissom of Stem, NC; and her special aunt, Frances McDonald of Creedmoor, NC. Tammy will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family too numerous to name, but missed most of all by her beloved special pet, Levi.
Tammy was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at South Granville Memorial Park and officiated by Pastor Angela Russell.
Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made in her honor to the Granville County Animal Shelter
