Sybil M. Davis

Sybil McGilvary Davis, a Durham native, died Monday, October 23, at Duke Medical Center. She was 81 years old. Borneecember 17, 1924 to the late David S. aneessie P. Rigsbee McGilvary, Mrs. Davis was a long-time member of Hope Valley Baptist Church. She was employed by Hudsoneelk for many years before her retirement in 1991. Mrs. Davis is survived by her sons, Butch Davis and wife, Sherry, of Newton Grove, NC; Steve Davis and wife, Sarah, of Durham, NC; two brothers, David McGilvary of Fairfax, VA; and Bobby McGilvary and wife, Barbara, of Durham; her sister, Emily Lang and husband, Bob, of San Diego, CA; and three grandchildren: Brandon Davis, Morgan Davis and Colin Davis. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Haywood L. Davis. Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, October 30, in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 15, with the Reverend Steve Moore of Emmaus Baptist Church in Pittsboro presiding. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
