(Rougemont, North Carolina) – Spencer Carl Sharpe, age 54, entered into the arms of his heavenly Father on Sunday morning, April 28th. Gone too soon from his earthly body but rejoicing forevermore in his eternal home!
Spencer was blessed with a large and loving family and is survived by his wife of 20 years, Wendy Sharpe and four absolutely precious children: Chloe, Kayleigh, Noah, and Hayden Sharpe as well as his mother, Bobbi Sharpe and sisters: Shelli Tillotson (Joel), Kimberli Nalven-Fuchs (Randy), and Corrine Crickmore (George). Left to miss him are also his mother-in-law, Hazel Eggleston as well brother-in-law, Steve Eggleston (Angie) and sister-in-law, Stephanie Shafer (Sonny) and multiple nieces and nephews: Christian Tillotson, David Eggleston, Taylor Eggleston, Grey Bolduc (Nick), Trey Tillotson (Camille), Joshua Nalven (Mallory), Ari Nalven, Will Shafer, and Olivia Shafer. His recently born great-nephew, Benjamin Tillotson, and great-niece, Adelline Nalven will not remember him as they grow but were immeasurably cherished.
Spencer was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sharpe and Father-in-Law, Michael Eggleston as well as brother-in-law, Scott Nalven and grandparents: Carl and Lucy Sharpe and John and Audrey Aman.
Born on June 10th, 1969, Spencer spent his childhood in Bourbon, Indiana surrounded by the love of family and a close-knit community before relocating to North Carolina; residing first in McLeansville and then relocating to the RDU area where he graduated from Cary High School and began what would be his lifelong career in transportation shortly thereafter.
Spencer and Wendy married on November 1, 2003, and began a beautifully imperfect life together on a small farm in Orange County, NC where they learned to lean on one another’s strengths to build and manage a serene home and farm, and where they began their walk into parenthood. It was with a true servant’s heart that he led and cared for his family. When at home, Spencer could always be found building, repairing, cleaning, cooking, or dreaming up the next project to undertake. He made heroic sacrifices for his family; always managing to ensure that Wendy and his children knew he had their best interest at heart and that he loved them beyond measure. His servant’s heart also showed up in his dedication to his church family as he served for nearly 20 years in the sound ministry of Summit Church. Spencer had a love of and a God-given gift for mixing music such that it reverberated within the hearts of those in an audience. He was blessed with many wonderful mentors in the music and production industry who challenged and encouraged him to use his talents for his Lord and Savior. At work, as well as with friends and extended family, he was forever offering a lending hand and reassuring word and he frequently could be found helping strangers in need; whether it was taking the time to pour out encouragement or fixing a flat tire on the side of the road. He was a friend to all and will be missed by those who were blessed to know him.
Spencer’s celebration of life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, May 5th at The Summit Church - North Durham Campus, 3263 Rose of Sharon Road, Durham, North Carolina 27712. The family will host a time of fellowship at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following organizations, for which Spencer had a passion.
