b. January 31, 1917

Shirley Virginia Nichols Holloway, 91, of Chapel Hill, died Sunday, neember 30, 2008. She was predeceased by the love of her life and best friend, Homer C. Holloway, her husband of 60 years. Born January 31, 1917 in the Oak Grove community of Durham County, she was a daughter of the late J. C. Nichols and Kitty Anneerguson Nichols. Mrs. Holloway was a graduate of the Watts Hospital School of Nursing and worked her entire professional life as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of Uneersity Baptist Church for 67 years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Holloway was predeceased by her brothers Ovid, Bill, Alvin and Owen Nichols and her sisters Penny Wineer, Hazel Gardner, Lurline Phillips, Leslie Ray and Pearl Williams. She was also predeceased by a son Donald G. Holloway and three grandsons Ricky, Chuck and David Holloway. She is survived by a daughter, Penelope H. Cline and husband William of Lynchburg, VA.; a son, H. Charles Holloway, Jr. and wife Thelma of Chapel Hill; daughters-in-law, Betty Holloway and Susan Holloway, both of Chapel Hill; 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery, oneegion Road. The Reverend Dr. H. Mitchell Simpson will preside. Friends may visit Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, Durham. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, N.C.
