Sharon Swartz Hungate

March 27, 1944 — January 19, 2021

Sharon Swartz Hungate, 76, of Durham, NC died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 while surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Hominy Falls, WV on March 27, 1944 to the late James and Maybelle Swartz.
Sharon was a loving mother and dedicated wife. She was full of life and brought laughter to those around her. She spent many of her years quietly serving others- especially the sick or lonely. Her faith and belief in Christ were unwavering, all the way until the end.
Sharon is survived by her children, James Hungate, Jr. (Esther), David Hungate (Lynn), Andrew Hungate, Leah Rubow (Rob), and Jennifer Baker (Christopher); 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 4 siblings; daughter in law, Angela Hungate; and best buddy, Kylie Cranford. She is also survived by many loving extended family and friends.
Sharon is predeceased by her husband, James Hungate, Sr.; grandson, David; and brother, Pat Swartz.
A private graveside service will be held at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Sparta, NC with Bishop Ken Rogerson conducting. To view the recorded service when it becomes available, Please click here.
