Savon Starnes West

Savon Starnes West, 92, former resident of the Durham Regent died Friday at Durham Regional Hospital. Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late John F. Starnes and Nora Whitaker Starnes. Mrs. West beganeer career as a beautician when she was 15 years old and continued until she was 89 years old. She was a charter member of St. Paul Uneed Methodist Church aneenjoyed quilting and crocheting. Her husband of 43 years, M. Jack West, Sr. died in 1979. Surviving are two sons, M. Jack West, Jr. of Lake Gaston and his wife Sarah and David Hugh West and his wife Gail of Durham; one brother, John Starnes of Aurora, NC; one sister, Doan Bryan of Garner; and four grandchildren, Tanya W. Daniel, Allysoneest, Laureneest and Brianeest. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Monday at St. Paul Uneed Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark D. Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Sunday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. The family will gather at 1615 Mason Road.
