Raleigh: Sadie Day Lawrence passed away oneednesday, May 11, 2011 in Raleigh, NC. She was a lifelong resident of Oxford, NC. She was born on June 25, 1917 in Granville County, the eldest daughter of Ivey W. Day and Anee May Hart Day. Sadie loved her family. When Sadie's father died, she once againeeturned to a renovated home place to live with Mama Day, her mother. She cherished fond memories and traditions that bound her family for another generation. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister. She was fiercely loved by her daughters who came to her to talk about challenges, joys, dreams and heartaches. She always knew how to approach every situation providing patience, guidance, love and honesty. The relationship "MaMa" held with her two grandsons, John and Cape was defined by mutual love and respect. She is survived by her two daughters, Ivy Anne Lawrence of Cary and Bess Lawrence Terrell of Charlotte. She is also survived by the pride and joy of her life, her two grandsons, John Michael Stott, Jr. of Charleston, SC and Gordon Capehart Cape Terrell of Charlotte. Her sister, Hortense Day Lasley of Charlottesville, VA and brother, William Henry Day of Oxford as well as many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Carl Capehart Lawrence, Jr., her parents, brothers, Wilsoneears Day and George Robert Day and her sisters, Nettie Day Ellis, Irene Day Elam and Mildred P. Day. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 2:00pm at Salem Uneed Methodist Church, 4151 Salem Road, Oxford on Monday, May 16, 2011. The Lawrence family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Mayview for kineess, geneeness and patience provided to her.
