Ruth C. Boyd, 83, of Oxford, NC died Saturday, September 26, 2020. She was born on January 20, 1937 to her now predeceased parents, Lambert and Hattie Mae Currin.
Ruth was a native of Granville County her entire life. She was born, raised, educated, attended church, worked, married, and raised a family all within Oxford and its surrounding communities. On September 8, 1953, Ruth was married to the love of her life, James Alvin Boyd. Together they built a life and a home that was blessed with love and posterity. Ruth was a hard worker. She retired from John Umstead Hospital, where she handled all the hospital linens, and later retired from another job with Walmart. Ruth was a wonderful woman with a beautiful soul. She was constantly looking for ways to serve and bless others. She was always happy to offer rides for individuals in need and was a true example of charity and love in all that she did.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Alvin Boyd; son, James Ronald “Ronnie” Boyd and his wife, Penny; daughters, Patricia “Tricia” Boyd Loughlin and her husband, Steven, and Margie Boyd Jernigan and her husband, Scotty; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Boyd is also survived by her sister, Emmie Lou Wilson; and many cherished extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Delrayno Baptist Church in Oxford, NC. Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
It is requested that all attending plan to practice safe social distancing and wear an appropriate face covering.
