Ruth Alford Utley

Ruth Alford Utley, 98, born April 23, 1909, in Durham and went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2007 after a brief illness. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints Psalm 116.15. Ruth was preceded ineeath by her parents, Thomas H. Alford and LaCenie P. Alford as well as her loving husband, Lewis Utley, of 67 years. She is survived by her three children, Shirley Hursey and her husband Otho, Carolyn Baker and her husband Hazel, and Steve Utley; and a sister, Mary Witt. Ma Ruth as she was affectioneely known had seven grandchildren & ten great grandchildren & one great-great grandchild and they brought her so much joy. Ruth was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. She worked along side her husband Lewis for over 50 years at Lewis's Cafe. Upon his retirement, she enjoyed many wonderful years with the love of her life. She also enjoyed working ineer flowers, antiques, collecting dolls, interior decorating, chocolate candy & celebrating special occasions with her family and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and Great-grandchildren, Branden Baker, Tyler Handfinger, Brice Hursey, Kenneth Hursey, David Utley and Chris Utley. Ruth
