Roy David Williams, Sr., 86, of Oxford NC died August 27, 2020. He was born in Granville County on February 26, 1934 to the late Wesley Elmus Williams, Sr. and the late Jewel Currin Williams.
Roy was an honorable man who valiantly served his country and his fellow man through his service in the US Army. From 1953-1955 he served in the 82nd Airborne Division where he trained and specialized in parachute assault operations.
Roy is survived by his 3 children, Roy David Williams, Jr., Donna Williams, and Deena Williams Siegla (Tim); sister, Linda Williams Currin (Madison); 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces; nephews; extended family members; and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents; sons, Wesley Williams, and Dale Williams; grandchildren, Bridget Short and Brian Short; and siblings, Elmus Williams, Jr., John Williams, Joe Williams, and Mollie Hanchey.
A drive-thru visitation where guests may greet the family will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Hester Baptist Church, 6581 NC-96, Oxford, NC.
A private family graveside service will be held at Hester Baptist Church Cemetery.
