Robin Robins Watson of Oxford departed this life on June 30, 2016. She was the daughter of Eloise Richardson Robins and Hubel Robins, Sr. She grew up in Richmond, Virginia with an extended family of grandparents, unees, aunts, and cousins. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School during World War II and also Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She and her husband, John William Watson, Sr. were married on Valentine???s Day, 1953. While her husband completed his medical training, she taught school and worked for the Salvation Army in Philadelphia, PA. As a wife and mother, Robin parented two sons, John and Peter, insuring their participation in church, summer camp, yard work and good manners. To her great delight, her daughter, Eloise Bolyn Watson was born as her sons finished high school and left for college. With her focus on Eloise, Robin and Dr. Watsoneemained active in their middle years. Eloise and her family were Robin???s light and strength ineer later years. Robin loved colonial and civil war history. She was a member of The Jamestown Society, The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, The Daughters of the Americaneevolution and The Uneed Daughters of the Confederacy. In addition to her activities with these groups, Robin actively served Oxford Uneed Methodist Church. Robin loved people and showed a genuine interest in everyone she met. Surviving Robin are her husband of 63 years, John William Watson, Sr.,M.D.; sons, John William Watson, Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Oxford, North Carolina, Peter Robins Watson and wife, Anita of Kinston, North Carolina; and daughter, Eloise Bolyn Watson and husband, Mark Jalkut of Raleigh, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Johneevin Blackwell Watson, Raleigh Peterson Watson, AtLee Taylor Darr Watson, Corrine Arrington Watson, Spencer Robins Watson, Chloe Elizabeth Jalkut, William Bolyn Jalkut, and Berkeley Hannon Jalkut; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Virginia Watson and Grace Robins Watson; brother, Reed Robins. Robin was predeceased by her brother, Hubel Robins, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia. Visitation at Gentry, neell and Vaughan, Oxford, NC, Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Oxford Uneed Methodist Church, McClanahan Street, Oxford, North Carolina. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Stephen???s Episcopal Church Parrish Hall across the street from Oxford Uneed Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oxford Uneed Methodist Church or the charity of one???s choice. Gentry-neell and Vaughan Funeral Home is assisting the Watson family.
