Dr. Robert Stone Timmins, 87, passed away on July 20, 2021 in Durham, North Carolina. Although health issues took Bob from the world, his grace, intelligence, and generosity to others remain.
Bob met his wife of 66 years, Ann, at the University of Texas while pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering. Bob completed his education with a doctorate in Chemical Engineering from MIT. During his professional career, Bob led several biotech companies, finishing his corporate career as President of Organon Technica, based in Raleigh-Durham’s Research Triangle. Bob extended his leadership and support of education by serving as Chair to the North Carolina Governor’s Board of Biotechnology, and many community organizations, including the Durham Public Library Foundation.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Ann. He is also survived by his children, Robert, John, and Martha, as well as his two grandchildren, Ben, and Abigail.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden. A short reception will follow. The family asks that donations be made to the Durham County Library Foundation, in lieu of sending flowers.
