Robert Doane Griffin, Sr., age 72, died unexpectedly Monday, December 18, in his Durham home. Bobby was a Durham native born neember 3, 1934 to the late Nellie L. Mumford and D. Woodrow Griffin. After graduating from Durham High School, Bobby maneed Broadway Foods. He was a member of Durham Masonic Lodge 352 for 47 years and also belonged to the Amran Shrine Temple where he played trumpet in the band. For several years Bobby enjoyed playing in the orchestra at Greystone Baptist Church. Bobby is survived by his wife of 39 years, Louise Evans Griffin of Durham, NC; his children: Bobbie Lou Griffin, also of Durham; Robbie Griffin, Jr. and wife, Heather, of Rougemont; Martin Earl Griffin of Durham; Beth Griffin and Laura Brown, both of Durham; his brother, William B. Griffin of Durham; and two grandchildren: Taylor and Maddie. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 21, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Pastor Jamie McDonald of New Horizon Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home and other times at the home of Bobbie Griffin, 3033 Rosebriar Dr. Pallbearers include Danny Horne, Chris Horne, Wayneedwards, Edward Evans, Jr., Jim Durham and Kenneth Taylor.
