Rebecca Smith Lewis, age 89, died peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Brantwood. She was the daughter of the late Thomas K. Smith and Hattie Leigh Adcock Smith.  Rebecca was born in Granville County on July 26, 1933. 

Never missing a chance to make a friend, Rebecca loved people.  She was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church and was active until she could no longer be. She was raised with her two brothers and four sisters and graduated from Stem High School and proudly attended Fullers Business School in Oxford.  She met and married her late husband, Gale P. Lewis, Sr and raised a family. 

Rebecca is survived by her son, Gale Phil Lewis, Jr (Kim) and her daughter, Lisa R. Lewis. She is also survived by her brother, David Smith (Denise); her sisters, Ann Parrott, Hattie Jean Overton (Leonard) and Sally Wynne (Howard); her brother-in -law, Dale Bullock and her beloved nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by many extended family and friends too numerous to name.    

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Gale P. Lewis; her brother, Thomas K “Smitty” Smith; her sister, Frances Bullock and her brother-in-law, Elbert Parrott.

 A funeral service for Rebecca will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Providence Baptist Church, Oxford, NC and officiated by Reverend William Wheeler.   Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 pm -2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
