Rebecca Rogers

DURHAM - Rebecca Jane Cash Rogers died at her home oneeptember 2, 2008 with her children at her side. Rebecca was born on March 22, 1914, in Chatham County, to Moses Stanford Cash and Susan Townsend Cash. She is the last surviving member of a family of six siblings. Rebecca is also predeceased by her husband, James Elbert Rogers, who died in 1991. A resident of Durham for most of her life, Rebecca was a charter member of Park View Baptist Church and its senior member. Rebecca loved her church and served in many capacities, especially as Sunday School teacher. Rebecca worked for many years at the former Mc Pherson's Hospital. Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Susan Alice Rogers of Bahama, and Michael Shane Rogers, recently of the home. Rebecca is also survived by several nieces and nephews, in particular the faithful Rachel Kirby Parrish of Chapel Hill. Services for Rebecca will be held at Park View Baptist Church on Friday, September 5, 2008, at 11 am, conducted by Reverend Richard T. Davis, Reverend Peggy Davis Gold and Reverend Charles Jardin. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, where there will be visitation on Thursday evening, September 4, 2008, from 6 to 8 pm.
