Phyllis Lorraine Heisler passed peacefully at Duke Hospital in Durham, NC following a lengthy convalescence from a broken leg. She was born on September 1, 1955 in Rochester, Indiana, to the late Franklin and Jane Heisler, who were the owners of Heisler Pharmacy, Rochester, Indiana.
Following graduation from Rochester Community High School, class of 1973, Phyllis went to Purdue University and received a degree in Hospitality Management in 1977. In 1979, she established a home in North Carolina to escape the plentitudes of Indiana snow. She continued her love of education and in 1997, Phyllis graduated from Vance Granville Community College with a Registered Nurse Degree. She also obtained degrees in Hospital Management, medical coding, and tax preparation.
Phyllis is remembered for her easy-going cheerful personality, love of dogs (especially Corgi’s) and enjoyment of entertaining friends in her home.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary L. Scheck; and a brother, David Allen Heisler.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Rochester, Indiana.
