Peter Cullen Bassett, 69, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011. Peter was born in Bridgeport, CT to Alice and Richard Bassett on May 20, 1941. Peter is survived by his wife Janet A. Bassett of Durham, NC; daughter Sara Bassett of Westport, CT; sons Mark Bassett of Aliso Viejo, CA, Matthew Bassett and his wife Stephanie of Hamden, CT, and Peter Bassett, II of Durham, NC; grandchildren Alison Bassett, Aneea Bassett, Hannah DeBalsi, DevoneeBalsi, Zoe Bassett, and Nina Bassett; and sister Lynn Giles of Wallingford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2011 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 810 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701 with Fr. Dan McLellan, OFM, presiding. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 4:00 on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
