Payton Alson Twiddy, age 7, died unexpectedly Friday at Duke Hospital. Payton was born June 6, 2000 in Chapel Hill to Nicole and Lawrence T. "Tommy" Twiddy. He was a second grade student at Cameron Park Elementary School and a member of Orange Uneed Methodist Church. Payton was an exceptional young boy with a fertile imagination, bouneess enthusiasm and a loving spirit. He enjoyed school aneespecially the Good News Club an after school Christian club. Payton was enamored with "the Zone" the performing arts children's ministry of his church. A well-rounded and bright child, he had a great ear for music, loved movies, fishing, the farm and Star Wars. Payton was outgoing and happy; he loved people and had a huge circle of friends. He wanted to be a school teacher whenee grew up, and had commented that whenee arrived ineeavenee hoped to meet Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King. Payton would be pleased that his eyes were doneed so that someoneelse might have sight. In addition to his parents, Paytoneeaves his sister, Morgan and brothers, Dylan, Tyler and Ayden Twiddy; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Ronald Roberson of Julian; his maternal grandfather Ed Zenobile of Follaneee, WV; his maternal great grandmothers, Ethel Henwood of Julian and June Zenobile of Follaneee, WV; his paternal grandmother, Sharon Thomas Bowman of Elizabeth City; and paternal great grandmother, Bessie Sawyer of Hertford. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Alson T. "Tommy" Twiddy. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 31, from Orange Uneed Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard. Friends may visit 6-9 PM Friday in the church fellowship hall. Donations in Payton's memory may be made to Orange Methodist Church, 1220 MLK Blvd. Chapel Hill, 27514 or to The Payton Twiddy Library Memorial Fund, Cameron Park School, 240 St. Mary's Rd. Hillsborough, 27278. Arrangements are with Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
