Pauline Upchurch Howard, 87, died Thursday at Duke Hospice at the Meadowlands. Born in Morrisville, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Fanee Carroll Upchurch. Mrs. Howard was a charter member of Farrington Road Baptist Church and a member of the Senior adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Howard worked at Belks her entire career. In fact, she loved working there so much that she did not retire until the store closed, when she was 81 years old. It canee said that Mrs. Howard "could get the most out of the least". This was evident in Paulines skill as a gardener. She was truly blessed with a green thumb and loved gardening. She loved Duke basketball and professional wrestling. Surviving are her sons J.S. Howard and his wife Ann of Boydton, VA aneeddie Howard of Durham; her sister, Christine Scoggins of Cary; brothers, Franklin Upchurch, Sr. and his wife Martha of Morrisville and George Upchurch and his wife Ann of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Kim Naughton of Chapel Hill and Steve Howard and his wife Laura Ann of Durham; great-grandchildren, Zach McGhee, Taylor Naughton, Rachel Ann Howard, Emma B. Howard and Jake Howard. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Howard; her brother, Kader Upchurch; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth "Pat" Salotti. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Monday at Farrington Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Greenee officiating. Burial will follow in Morrisville Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Services. Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made to Duke Hospice at the Meadowlands, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278. The family would like to thank Rev.
