Patrick A. O'Keeffe

Durham, North Carolina, USA – Patrick Augustine O’Keeffe, aged 97, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. ‘Pat’ was born in County Cork, Ireland, November 27th, 1927 to the late Ellen and William O’Keeffe.
Pat emigrated to the United States in 1957, along with his beloved late wife, Catherine (Kathleen), settling in Durham, NC. Their loving bond led to many successes while achieving their piece of the American Dream. ‘Pat & Kat’ rose to ownership in the restaurant & hotel business, notably the Downtowner Motor Inn and the Wabash Express Steakhouse. Nothing were they more proud of than their 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren (+1 on the way!)They were lifelong members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Pat was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and the Kiwanis Club of Durham, where he was known for his volunteer work feeding the hungry and annual spaghetti dinner fundraisers.Pat was a sportsman. He co-captained the 1950-51 ‘Interhouse League Winners’ Eustaces A.F.C. club football (soccer) team. He loved fly-fishing and his Duke Blue Devils.Patrick is survived by his four children, Martin O’Keeffe (DeeDee), Patricia Odell (Jeff), Jerry O’Keeffe (Tana), & Eileen Stevens (Robert);5 grandchildren: Niles O’Keeffe (Sierra), Maura Hanks (Pat), Patrick Joseph O’Keeffe (Hannah), Julia Isley (Josh) and Sean O’Keeffe; and 2 great-grandchildren: Grayson Hanks and Davis Hanks. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Visitation is at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
