Oscar Sweany Ryder

Oscar Sweany Ryder, age 85, died peacefully at his Durham residence on Friday, May 3, 2013. A native of Durham, Mr. Ryder was born to the late William H. and Maude Proctor Ryder. Mr. Ryder spent his entire career in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during three wars: WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Lowe's Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Ryder was preceded ineeath by his loving wife, Yoshiko Ryder. Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Maplewood Cemetery, Section 19, with the Rev.
