We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. N.K. Ghosh, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed physician, on September 17, 2024, at the age of 88. His passing leaves a lasting impact in the hearts of his family and friends.
Born in Bengal, Dr. Ghosh graduated from Nil Ratan Sirkar Medical School in Calcutta in 1958 and pursued a career in Internal Medicine. His first job as a physician in rural India introduced him to Meena, the love of his life, and they joyfully married in 1961.
In 1966, Dr. Ghosh arrived in the United States with Meena and an unwavering spirit. After he completed his medical internship, he decided to make the United States his home and became a proud citizen. His family grew to include three children and his nephew, and he became an integral part of the community in Fayetteville, NC. Dr. Ghosh dedicated much of his professional career to serving veterans and their families at the Fayetteville Veterans Administration Hospital, where he worked for 26 years.
After retirement, Dr. Ghosh followed his spiritual interests. He was one of the founders of the Vedanta Center of North Carolina, which promotes spiritual enlightenment and the unity of all religions. His spiritual faith continues to be a beacon of guidance for his family.
As a family man at heart, Dr. Ghosh cherished time with his family, especially during beach trips, playing cards, tea time, watching movies, and dabbling in the stock market.
Dr. Ghosh believed in the Bhagavad Gita which states the body may perish but the soul is eternal. His legacy of spirituality, integrity, and intellectual curiosity will continue to inspire generations of his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Meena, his children, Uma Avva (Ravi), Sekhar Ghosh (Sudevi), Radha Sehgal (Amitabh), and grandchildren, Kalyani Avva (Colten Mabile), Keshav Avva (Madison), Ishan Ghosh, Nina Sehgal, Dhruva Ghosh, Devin Sehgal, his sister Binapani Ghosh, his nephew Sib Ghosh (Jaya) and grandnephews Ananda, Nil (Aveni), and Jit Ghosh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vedanta Center of North Carolina.
