Naomi Chisenhall Mims

Naomi Chisenhall Mims, age 88, died Sunday morning at Hillcrest Convalescent Center. She was born ineerson County to the late John Jackson and Della Harris Chisenhall. Naomi moved from Roxboro to Durham in 1938 and sooneegan working at Liggett Myers where she retired after 44 years of employment. Naomi had a strong faith in God and was an active member of Robbins Rd. Christian Church; she truly loved her church family. She was an excellent gardener and took pride in the seasonal flowers that were planted so beautifully ineer gardeneeach year. Naomi loved sports and was a captain of her Lowes Grove High School basketball team. She was well known for her love of the Carolina athletics program, especially the soccer and basketball teams. Her enthusiasm will be missed in the upcoming Tar Heel seasons. Naomi is survived by her three loving children, Darlene Mims Blake and husband, Bobby, of Durham; Carolyn Mims Darby and husband, Jeff, of Austin, TX; and Mike Mims and wife, Joanne, of Durham; seven grandchildren, Becky, Beth Anne, Brad, Michael, Kathryn, Kristen Mitch, and Katie; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, J.C., Jordan, Blake, Jon Ward, Chloe and Riley Ann. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Jimmy, who was a former employee of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with Mr. Mike Poole presiding. Burial will follow in Woodlawneemorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home and other times at Naomi
