Nancy Stebbins Burnette

Nancy Stebbins Burnette, age 77, died on June 16, 2021 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Shirley Branham Stebbins and Rebecca Barksdale Wimbush Stebbins. Nancy was born in Newport News, Virginia on August 18, 1943.

Nancy is survived by her son, David F. Burnette (Renee), her grandchildren, Brandon Burnette, Colin Burnette, and Abby Burnette. She is also survived by her siblings, Ruth Leffers (Robert) and William Wimbush (Tony Ratcliffe). She leaves behind many friends and extended family whom she loved dearly.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Bill” Burnette; her brother, Shirley “Buck” Stebbins Jr., and her sister, Fredricka Patgorski.

Nancy graduated from Kings Business College in Raleigh, NC in 1962. She was retired from Ideal Fastener Corporation having worked there for over 25 years. She was very fond of her grandkids and actively followed their accomplishments in school and sports. She was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church for over 50 years and served as the Church Treasurer for many years, a position she enjoyed greatly and was very passionate about. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

A visitation will be held for family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home, Oxford, NC. A funeral service will be held on 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the Chapel and officiated by Rev. Glenn Stallsmith. Burial to follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Salem United Methodist Church, care of Phyllis Stark, 6639 Horner Siding Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
