Nancy Marie Taylor, age 69, died peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh. Nancy was borneeptember 23, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI to Thelma Bernadine (Ullrich) Scardaci and the late Gerald ???Jerry??? Anthony Scardaci. Nancy Scardaci was raised in Mt. Vernon, NY and graduated Class of 1964 at Mt. Vernon HS. She earned a BA in Spanish in 1968 from SUNY Albany where she met her future husband, Richard Taylor. They married in June, 1968 and went on to raise two sons in Orlando, FL and Reston, VA. They eventually settled in Hillsborough, NC where they lived for over 20 years. She was a lifelong homemaker, and loving wife and mother. She was active in many social causes all her life; from community playground programs and translations for Spanish speakers, to voluneer work with her husband and sons in soup kitchens and ineefugee resettlement, to promoting tolerance through faith, education and legislative reform. She touched and inspired many ineer life by her efforts, her kineess and the strength of her convictions. In addition to her mother, Nancy is survived by her loving and devoted sons, Eric Richard Taylor and wife, Jenneer Paige Hansen, of Hillsborough, NC; and Mark Sebastian Taylor and husband, William ???Billy??? Dean Hagwood of Raleigh, NC; her sisters, Janet Lynn Brereton of New Rochelle, NY and Catherine Anne Scardaci of Mameroneck, NY; her grandson, Braed Eric Elessar Taylor and nephew, Bryan R Brereton of Harrison, NY. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Richard Jon Taylor who died in 2004. A private memorial service will be held at St. Paul???s Lutheran Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to local chapters of the following: Via de Cristo (www.encvdc.org), PFLAG (www.pflag.org), Prisoneellowship (www.prisonfellowship.org), PFADP (www.pfadp.org), NAMI (www.nami.org) Arrangements for the Taylor family are under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
