Muriel DePowel Burgun, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on April 1, 2013, in Pittsboro, NC. She was born oneecember 13, 1924 ineewark, NJ. She graduated from Marymont College ineerrytown, NY. She was a librarian at Pleasantville Public Library in Pleasantville, NY. She was also a docent at Washington Irving's house, Sleepy Hollow Restorations, in Irvington, NY. Muriel was a faithful member of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church in Pleasantville, NY, serving as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, singing in the choir, and Director of Christian Education in the Presbytery. She and her husband, Joseph, loved travelling all over the world. She had a great love for animals and rescued many dogs and cats over the years. Preceding her ineeath are her father and mother, Anthony DePowel and Myrtle Bungard DePowel; son, Douglas Armand Burgun; daughter, Nancy Sue Burgun; sister, EvelyneePowel Keeley; and brother, Robert William DePowel. Muriel is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph Armand Burgun; son, Bruce Eric Burgun and wife, Kate Fagan Burgun; grandson, Keith Douglas Burgun; granddaughter, Ashley Burgun; niece, Donna Keeley Thore and husband Thomas Aneew Thore, Jr. A special thanks to dear friends Dick & Ruthie Flannery for all their love and support. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, April 6th 2013, in the auditorium at Galloway Ridge Fearrington Village, Pittsboro, NC.
