Morrisville, NC- Morna Lam, age 30, died at a Duke University Hospital after fighting a brave battle with cancer on February 2nd, 2024.
Born in New York City, New York, Morna moved to Burlington, North Carolina at a very young age. Morna graduated from Walter M Williams High School in 2012. Following her graduation, she pursued her passion for nursing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Justin Deng, with whom she shared countless cherished memories.
Determined and dedicated, Morna excelled in her studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017 and achieving Magna Cum Laude honors. She embarked on her nursing career with Duke Health, where her compassionate care and unwavering commitment to her patients earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the community.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Morna embraced life with boundless enthusiasm. She found joy in practicing yoga, exploring new destinations through travel, and expressing herself through fashion and the art of pole dancing. Music was a constant source of inspiration and solace for her.
Morna's love extended to her cherished feline companions, Atlas and Khaleesi, whom she spoiled with affection and care. She also cherished moments spent in the company of her loved ones, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Morna is survived by her devoted husband, Justin Deng; her loving mother, Wan Ying Chan; her father, Fai Lam; her sister, Morni Lam; and her brother, Andrew Lam. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, located at 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Duke Cancer Institute in honor of Morna's courageous battle against Breast Cancer.
Morna's light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will endure for generations to come.
