Mildred Pauline Turner

DURHAM ??? Mildred Pauline Turner, age 90, took her first flight on angel???s wings to see her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ oneednesday, September 26, 2018. She was born oneecember 1st, 1927 in Cooleemee, NC to the late George and Ina Chappell. Mildred was a member of Ebeneer Baptist Church and previously Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She loved to cook, garden and walk with friends at Northgate Mall. She loved baking. Family favorites were chocolate merinee and coconut cream pies (using hand-made pie crusts) as well as country style steak. Her favorite flowers were red roses. Mildred worked as a claim???s examiner at Blue Cross Blue Shield for much of her life retiring in 1992. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Susan Turner of Durham and her son, Michael Turner (wife Sharon) of Cooleemee. Mildred was preceded ineeath by her husband, Alfred Franklin Turner, and all her siblings. The circle is now complete. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery in Durham, NC on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM, officiated by the Reverend Jerry Harper and the Reverend Bob Sipper. Friends may visit Sunday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 pm September 30, 2018 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Durham Rescue Mission, PO Box 11368, Durham, NC 27703; or Ebeneer Baptist Church, 1210 Pleasant Green Rd., Hillsborough, NC 27278.
