CHAPEL HILL - Mildred Neville Gornto, 90, died neember 11, 2018. She was the only child of Dewitt Talmage Neville and Agnes Lacy Robertsoneeville of Chapel Hill, NC. Mildred grew up in Chapel Hill and graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1944 and from Women???s College in Greensboro, NC where she received a bachelor???s degree in primary education on 1948. She was a teacher at Southside Elementary School in Gastonia, Duke Memorial Preschool and Hope Valley School where she retired in 1988. Mildred was a longtime active member of Grace Lutheran in Durham, She was an avid UNC fan and an animal lover. She always had cats and/or dogs who became members of the family. She also enjoyed her flower garden and feeding the birds. Mildred was preceded ineeath by her husband of 45 years, Jacob Robert Gornto of Durham. She was a very loving and supportive mother and grandmother and is survived by her 5 children; Denee Lee and husband, David, of Efland, NC; Robert ???Bob??? Dewitt Gornto and wife, Joy, of Durham; Paula Faye Gornto and husband, Chuck Bell of Charlotte, NC; Stepheneeville Gornto and wife, Royanne, of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Aneew ???Andy??? Jarrot Gornto and wife, Cindy, of Roxboro, NC; and three grandsons: Zachary ???Zach??? Robert Gornto and wife, Daisy of Durham, NC; Joshua ???Josh??? Carl Gornto and wife Katelin (Josh is currently stationed in California) and Michael ???Mike??? Jarrot Gornto of Roxboro, NC; great grandsons, Gabriel and Landon of Durham. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Friday, neember 16, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Bryan Chestnutt officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00AM ??? 11:00AM Friday, neember 16, 2018 prior to the service at the church. Flowers are acceptable, or memorial may be made to Miss Mollies School of Grace or to Grace Lutheran Church at 824 N. Buchanan Blvd., Durham, NC 27701. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wynwood of Chapel Hill Clare-Bridge of Chapel Hill,?? Spring Arbor/ Carolina Reserve of Durham, and Park View of Chapel Hill for the love and compassion given to Mildred during her extended illness. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Kineed Hospice, Liberty Hospice and Katherine Jones of Doctors Making House Calls.
