Miguel Angel Marrero, 78, died Monday in the V.A. Hospital. A native of Puerto Rico, he was a resident of Orlando, Fla. from 1993 until moving to Durham in 2005. Mr. Marrero proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Although suffering a permanent disability in the military, he successfully supported his family, sending all four children to college and his son to medical school. Mr. Marrero was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Neida; his children, Ada Marrero of Puerto Rico, Miguel Marrero, M.D. of Pittsburgh, PA, Ivette Marrero of Durham and Maria Milagros-Marrero of Miami; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11:00 AM Friday from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills Veterans Cemetery.
