Mr. Merle Lemuel Frye, 78, of Russell Chapel Road, Bynum, died October 27, 2007 in his home. Mr. Frye was born in Guilford County on March 17, 1929 to Lemuel McKinley Frye and Nora Lee Johnson Frye. He spent his entire career in law enforcement, serving as Chief of Police in Pittsboro, and also as a deputy and bailiff with the Chatham County Sheriff's Department. He attended Rock Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Frye is survived by his former wife and care-taker, Kat Frye of Bynum; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Julie Frye of Bynum, Ricky and Alice Frye of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and John Lomas of Wilmington; brother, Billy Frye of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Corey Frye, Chris Hill, Jonathan Joel Frye, David Alan Frye, Patti Lynn Treadway, Kayce Lomas, Hannah Lomas, Jesse Lomas; and a great-grandchild, Katelyn Treadway. The service to celebrate Mr. Frye's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Shane Arnold and Rev. Bob Wachs will preside.
