OXFORD: Melvin ???Foster??? Boyd, age 56 died Saturday, October 11, 2014.?? A native of Granville County, he was the son of Melvineee Boyd and the late Mildred Finch Boyd.?? Foster was a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Youth Leader.?? He was a member of the Oxford Voluneer Fire Dept. where he served for 20 years.?? He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Granville County Rescue Squad and a 1976 graduate of J. F. Webb High School. Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Oxford Presbyterian Church by Reverend Alan Konee.?? The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm, prior to the service, in the fellowship hall of the church. Surviving is his wife, Jane Lancaster Boyd; a son, Michael S. Boyd of Oxford; a daughter, Jessica Renee??? Boyd (Joseph) of Oxford; a brother, Wade R. Boyd (Barbara) of Goldston; a sister, Cinderella B. Lyon (Laurie) of Sanford; his beloved granddaughter, Adalyn Grace Bowen; and aunts, Carolyn Moss of Oxford and Shirley Paine.
