Maurice Gentry Whitlow, Sr

Maurice Gentry Whitlow, age 74, of Oxford, NC, died at his residence on July 26, 2019. Maurice was the son of John E. Whitlow and Malvena Carter Whitlow and was born ineerson County on May 28, 1945. Maurice was born into the life of tobacco. He joined the Air Force as a young man and spent 18 months in Vietnam while proudly serving his country for four years. He came back to NC and made his career of 40 years with General Processors Tobacco Company and Standard Commercial Tobacco Processing.?? He met and married his wife, Sandra and raised 2 rambunctious boys in the heart of Granville County. Maurice is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Cates Whitlow; his sons, Maurice Whitlow, Jr (Emily Staples) and Todd Whitlow (Kristie); his grandchildren, Valerie Whitlow, Bellamy Whitlow, and Hadley Whitlow; his siblings, Reggie Whitlow (Brenda); Harold Whitlow (Diane);?? Barry Whitlow (Beverly); Timmy Whitlow (Jewell); Ted Whitlow (Vickie); Margaret Dean (Bert) and Carol Stone. He will be missed greatly by his family friends aneextended family. Maurice was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Kelly Whitlow; Johnny Whitlow; Aleane Walker; Sheila Kaye Whitlow; and Judith Ann Wineead. Visitation for family and friends is to be held on Monday, July 29, 2019, at 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm in the Church sanctuary and officiated by Reverend Keith Williams.?? Burial to follow in the church cemetery with Reverend William Wheeler officiating.?? The address of the church is Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 US Highway 158, Oxford, NC 27565.
