Matthew C. Morton

Matthew Charles Morton, 17, died accidentally at home Sunday. He was born May 2, 1994 in Greenville, SC. Matthew attended Person High School. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved animals and had a remarkable rapport with them and keen ability to care for them, eveneending their wounds. Matthew was hard working and always looked for ways to help others. He had a great voice and aspired to be a country singer. Matthew had a heart for troubled young people, hoping to make a difference in their lives one day. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a young man who celebrated the wonders of God's creation, was endowed with a natural curiosity and was a ray of sunshine. Surviving are his parents, Jonna and Hugh Morton; his brother, Maxwell Morton; his sister Jessica Cehen; paternal grandparents, Linda Morton of Greenville, SC and Charles Morton of Durham. Matthew's funeral will be 11:00 Friday ineethany Baptist Church, Rougemont, with the Rev. Brian Hager presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawneemetery, Durham.
