Matt Vuolo, 94 years old, passed away on neember 18, 2018. Born in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Matt graduated from New York Technical Institute and attended Rutgers Uneersity. He was a veteran in the Army Air Forces as aneerial gunner in B-17???s during World War II. He was an adult leader with Troop 21 Boy Scouts of America and during that time, he earned the Distinguished Wood Badge Award. He was elected Mayoral Candidate for Midland Park, New Jersey in 1967 and was Past Commander of Americaneegion Post 147. Matt was a drummer of his dance band, ???The Downeeats??? with theme song ???Sentimental Journey.??? Matt was the co-owner of Parkway Electrical & Heating businesses for 18 years and was employed as the Business Forms Designer for Jersey Business Systems. He retired 1983 from Major Business Systems in North Carolina as Sales Maneer. He was the inventor of the improved side-seam-canning-machine method for Campbell Soups & Stokely-VanCamp. Matt moved from North Carolina to Ocala, Florida in 1997 and returned to Durham, NC in 2018. Matt is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 54 years; soneenneth K. Vuolo and wife, Deborah, of North Carolina and two grandchildren, Austin and Jamison. He was preceded ineeath by his sisters Ann and Agnes and brothers, Anthony, Bart and Jim and son, Matthew.
