Mary Jenkins Fennell died peacefully at Durham Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 9, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old. Mary was born in Washington D.C. to the late William A. and Mary I. Solomons Jenkins oneecember 26, 1916. In addition to being a long-time member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Durham, Mary was very involved and devoted to the following organizations over the years: DAR Daughters of the Americaneevolution; UDC Uneed Daughters of the Confederacy; Magna Charta Dames; U.S. Daughters of 1812; National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century; National Society Sons & Daughters of the Pilgrims; National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor, the National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars, Daughters of the American Colonists, and Family of Bruce Society in America descendant of Robert the Bruce King Robert. Mary is survived by two sons, Richard A. Fennell and wife, Dottie, of Whitsett, NC; Joseph J. Fennell and wife, Nancy, of Mebane, NC; her sister, Anne J. Judson of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Katie Fennell and Teresa Mills; two step-grandchildren, Jeff Jobe and Tracy Alcorn; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Joseph E. Fennell. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Thursday, October 14, 2010, from St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with Father Robert K. Kaynor presiding. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be held Saturday afternoon in Grahamville Cemetery in Ridgeland, SC.
